Vocal harmony is their specialty—with all four seasoned band members singing with acoustic, electric, and 12-string guitars, plus bass and drums.

Join us for an afternoon of pottery-making and hard cider with Dover Pottery Studio! Come create a beautiful handcrafted textured PITCHER while enjoying delicious cider in a friendly and creative atmosphere! 

In this hands-on session, you’ll create your very own unique ceramic pitcher using a variety of clay construction techniques, texture tools, and decorations . This session is designed for all skill levels. After the session, our studio staff will glaze and fire your creations, making them ready for pick-up approximately four weeks after the workshop. 

• Single 2 hour session

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Taylor Readyhough is a Ph.D. candidate in the Wildlife Modeling and Monitoring Lab at UNH, where her work focuses on the community ecology of carnivores and their prey in urban ecosystems. Prior to coming to UNH, Taylor worked as an affiliate faculty member at Regis University (Denver, CO) in the biology and environmental science departments and as a behavioral research associate at Denver Zoo studying male Asian elephant social behaviors. Taylor is passionate about teaching and expanding her role as an educator beyond the classroom to increase community engagement and science outreach.

Christine Caputo is an associate professor of chemistry at UNH and the founder and director of Seacoast Sips of Science. She first learned about public science outreach as a postdoc in the U.K. and decided to bring the concept to the New Hampshire Seacoast. Her research focuses on creating hydrogen, a clean fuel, using sunlight and water — it's what we call a solar fuel!

You’ll get the chance to select the stems you want to use from Clover, our Vintage VW flower truck and settle in with a cider for a slow afternoon of beauty, joy and creativity. All materials are included and you’ll leave with a lovely spring centerpiece, plus the techniques to replicate for yourself in the future. Join us for a festive springtime workshop of modern calligraphy for beginners! Whether you’re a stationery nerd, DIY Spouse-to-be, or just a crafty individual, in this workshop you’ll be learning an introduction to modern calligraphy with a pointed dip pen and ink. Your instructor and pen pro, Kristen Grady will cover all the basics and get you ready to add those special lettered details to all your springtime crafts!

Class includes 1.5 hours of instruction and demonstration, our beginner’s calligraphy kit (two nibs, black ink pot, 2 letter guides, tracing paper and straight pen holder), and all materials to write on. Everything is yours to keep at the end of the workshop! *Makes a great Mother’s Day gift!

Exploring Cape Ann from the fisherman's perspective is vastly different from that of seasonal tourists and beach goers. Instead of seeking out the best beach spots to relax, build a sandcastle, and take a swim; anglers spend time scoping out the water's edge looking for potential holding spots for fish by reading currents, looking for structure, watching bait, and observing birds. Beaches, marshes, and brackish rivers are excellent areas to fish, and they are abundant with wildlife in and out of the water if you know where to go.
